  • What is Cool Cake?

    We get this question a lot. Simply put, we are a photography and design studio based in San Diego. We specialize in local and destination wedding photography and custom album design.

     The next question usually is; what does the name Cool Cake have to do photography?  Well it doesn’t really. However it has a lot to do with having fun and being as creative as possible; which is our philosophy.

    Our mission statement is summarized in “life is sweet”. We have documented and shared with our clients their sweetest moments in life and that is exactly what we love to do and have a passion for.

Photo Album: Tracy and Matt’s Wedding

Hello Cool Cake Peeps,

Today I want to feature one of our Cool Cake albums. This one is for Tracy and Matt. I haven’t blogged their wedding yet but this will give you a good idea at how awesome this couple is. They came all the way from Minnesota to get married in San Diego and they chose Cool Cake Photography to tell the story.

And yes… I feel very blessed.

Tracy Hoel - I just wanted to comment on what a wonderful photographer, person, and friend, Kevin was to my husband, Matt and I. I knew from seeing previous work he had done he was the perfect photographer for our special day, but I was blown away by the results. He has an amazing attention for detail. Not only can he capture life as we see it in an instant, but it comes as natural to him as walking does to us. He did just that…captured every moment as it happened from start to finish and then some. What I enjoyed most about Kevin’s work is his ability to make the pictures come alive! The “standard” is not in his vocabulary, which I loved! I would recommend Cool Cake Photographer to anyone who is interested in having life captured by a professional who has the ability to provide memories for that special event in your life. “Life is Sweet,” when you are working with Kevin! Thank you for everything Kevin, you are truely remarkable! XOXO

Meanwhile, back at the Vista Farmers Market: The Jara’s Lifestyle Session

Hello Friends,

First off, I just want to ask you…is this family SO cute or what? I thought you’d agree:-)

What made this session so great was that we were just capturing what the Jara’s do naturally…have fun and love each other.

The day started out at the Farmers Market in Vista California, a common practice for this super cute family. And we just hung out and let them do what they do normally.

Then we went to an adjacent lot and did some group activities that got the blood pumping and put smiles on everybody’s faces… even dad. Who, (by the way) was a little skeptical at first, but fell right into the fun. I think it’s obvious how strong of a bond he has with his girls.

And that’s it…so simple: we play, we laugh, we shoot and the magic is present.

That’s how we roll at Cool Cake Photography!

Don’t forget Fathers Day is coming up! Hint. Hint.:-)

And I don’t want to forget my lovely assistant Beth (my bride) who was awesome at helping out that day. Thanks babe!
