Hello Cool People,
To I present to you Pauline: A good friend who I have come to know over the summer while we were serving at our Church sponsored Kid’s Games. We both taught the Photojournalism elective.
She is a communications major at Azusa Pacific University, speaks fluent Arabic and is a model just to name a few of her gifts.
She is awesome to work with and is very comfortable in front of the camera. This session took a few hours and we found ourselves in several locations throughout San Diego and every minute was great.

Howdy,
Cool Cake Photography presents another great couple. Both are in school at two different institutions so when they get together, it’s all about them and making up for lost time. When asked about a typical date for them, they humbly offered up shopping at the Cedros Farmers Market and cooking at home. That doesn’t sound so humble to us, sounds like the perfect opportunity to capture the two of them doing what they love to do…spending time with each other and serving one another with a tasty lunch.

Colleen and Brad Married Part I

I am so excited to announce the marriage of my friends Colleen and Brad. I have only known them since they decided to hire Cool Cake Studios for their photography but I feel that we have become good friends in the process…I love what I do. As you can see, the wedding was lovely. I present only part one of two which I will follow up with shortly.

Since coming here from the Midwest, Colleen and Brad have had an affection for California Beaches. Not only did they pick one of San Diego’s legendary beaches to have their ceremony, the details of the whole day were shot through with yummy “beachness” courtesy of Orange Blossom Events. From the mini umbrellas with guest table assignments to the sandcastle table, everything felt and looked great.

For this first batch of images, we have the guys and ladies getting ready. I think you will agree with me that this entourage Rocked it! The magnetism of Brad and Colleen is undeniable. Everywhere we went people stopped what they were doing to check out how much these two love each other. I didn’t notice the crowd gather while were covering the first look, until I heard the claps of applause. I think I clapped too when Brad and Colleen finally made contact. I can’t help but smile when I think of it still.

Anyway…..

Hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as we loved taking them. Also a special thanks to Craig Tescarino for his assistance on the 2nd camera, his help was invaluable.

The Boxer Part II

So it was Ryan’s turn with the gloves. It’s always interesting to see personalities come through when somebody puts on the gloves. Ryan has a style about him that says “I’m not easily pushed into confrontation”. However that doesn’t stop him from fighting for his convictions.

Talk about anticipation. Kim and the family are at the one-week-out period which really means at “any moment”. What better way to pass the time than to have your friendly neighborhood photographer drop by and photograph the existing family before our new arrival.
Lot’s of love in this household, and even big sister is in for lots of support. As for Ken, he has a house full of girls and he couldn’t be happier.
And me, I gain another niece….

What is Sacrifice?

Sacrifice is giving up something you love for something else you love. It’s not easy and sometimes you may never know if it was the right decision.

I am humbled and honored that Cool Cake Photography was part of an important documentary about the wonderful women who sacrifice their beloved husbands to places and causes from which they may never return.

Steve Lopez from KCET’s SoCal Connected and the LA Times did an awesome job capturing in words the saga and effect that multiple deployments have on a military family.

Being a member of OpLove Reunited I meet a lot spouses and families of our troops. I am always amazed and encouraged by their optimism and faithfulness to our country and their husbands. I always enjoy doing these sessions and it is the very least I can do for those who sacrifice so much.

Superhero Love Story: Kristen and Eric Engaged

I’m telling you…this couple is awesome! I always tell our engaged couples that a prop here and there is nice and maybe a special hat or something. But when Kristen suggested Superman and Wonder Woman costumes, I was thinking… “this is going to get fun”. But hey, I’m all game! Whatever the couple is down for, I’m prepared for it.

Thank you so much Kristen and Eric for choosing Cool Cake Photography to capture your Loves Story. We are also going to be there at the wedding which is in a few weeks. So be sure to check back then and see these two hitched. I wonder if our superheros will make an appearance.

Hangover in San Diego ends in Civil Marriage Ceremony

Just kidding! Really though, when Donna said that her and David were eloping “for real” and that nobody from Boston knew about it, I had a feeling that this was an interesting couple. They got married on a gorgeous San Diego day in February and Cool Cake Photography was there to capture it all. After the sweet ceremony we ended up at Balboa Park and Crystal Pier for newlywed portraits.
So how did friends and family take the sudden news? I don’t know. But follow the link and see the video that broke the whole story to loved ones and coworkers…absolutely HILARIOUS…Hangover style!
